Tadpole Rex by Kurt Cyrus - review

Tadpole Rex by Kurt Cyrus
Excuse, please, but how did I miss this? Did I skip it because I often eschew digital coloring? I should not have - the scratchboard outlines are plenty organic. Did I give it a pass because I saw minimal text? Gosh I hope I'm not that short-sighted.

Kurt Cyrus rhymes "huddle" with "puddle"; "speck" and "neck"; "soup" and "bloop". He draws dinosaurs from a low, close perspective, giving them a vitality that most artists have trouble pinning down. And ya gotta love a tadpole with the heart of a T. Rex.

Yup. I reviewed it myself a month or two ago. Grand, magnificent stuff. One of the best picture books of the year, by my reckoning.

I still don't like digital coloring though Betsy. I just read that new mammoths book, which is scratchboard and watercolor, and it just has a nicer feel.
